Ghyll Scrambling in the Lake District

Our most popular activity, ghyll scrambling (also known as gorge walking) is an adventurous exploration of a stream bed. On the way, there are pools to jump in and cascades to scramble up. An exhilarating activity in rain or sunshine.

What happens in a Ghyll Scrambling session?
We will begin by putting on boots, helmets, and (unless it is really hot!) warm and waterproof layers, then scramble into the bed of the stream we are going to follow.

There will be a chance to take on the various challenges of the ghyll as we go: scrambling up waterfalls, sliding into pools, jumping across the stream. And even if it rains, ghyll scrambling is a great thing to do, as getting wet and having fun is what it's all about!
